SESAME FLYERS INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYEE HIGHLIGHT

MS. EDNA POLANCO joined Sesame Flyers’ own Center For Family Support as a bilingual Case Planner in September of 2019. She is trained in a case management background, and has prior experience in the shelter system. Ms. Polanco has been an asset to our program. She easily establishes a rapport with families being serviced. Her ability to communicate in Spanish allows the program to service families within our communities.

Ms. Polanco easily transitioned with servicing families virtually while we quarantined. She ensured that all families were assessed weekly and never hesitated to carefully visit with high risk families in the field. Her loyalty and dedication to her job is to be commended.

HONORING HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

The celebration was created to recognize the positive impact that Hispanic Americans have left on the country. "Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America," according to the official government website. It takes place from September 15-October 15 every year.

As of 2017, the Hispanic population in the U.S. is 58.9 million—the largest minority group in the country—and is projected to reach 111 million by 2060, according to the 2018 Census report.
