This time of year reminds us that change and renewal are just around the corner, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the importance of staying connected and looking out for one another.

Our community continues to show incredible strength, resilience, and compassion, and we are truly grateful for your ongoing support and engagement. Because of you, we are able to continue our mission and make a meaningful impact together.

As we welcome the new season, we look forward to the months ahead and are excited about the programs, initiatives, and opportunities planned for the rest of the year. We truly value your continued involvement and look forward to staying connected with you.

CLARKSON COMPASS

The Clarkson Compass Lambda Step Group recently hosted auditions for the Lambda Lionettes, bringing together a group of talented dancers ready to step into excellence.  The session was filled with energy, passion, and precision as participants showcased their skills and embraced the spirit of teamwork and performance. From powerful steps to confident stage presence, the auditions highlighted the dedication and rising talent within our community.
 

WINTHROP BEACON COMMUNITY CENTER

Our Winthrop Beacon recently got creative, diving into decorating and preparations for their Black History Month Showcase!

With incredible enthusiasm and teamwork, students poured their energy into every detail—transforming simple ideas into vibrant, meaningful decorations that beautifully celebrate culture, history, and community. From bold visuals to thoughtful displays, each element reflected their pride, creativity, and deep appreciation for Black heritage.  Their dedication and passion truly brought the space to life, creating an inspiring and welcoming atmosphere for all who attend. It’s amazing to see our students take ownership of such a celebration, honoring Black excellence while learning, expressing, and uplifting one another.

We’re so proud of the hard work and heart they put into making this showcase something special!.

BILDERSEE BEACON - CLOTHES DONATION DRIVE

The Bildersee Beacon is proud to host a Clothes Donation Drive to support community members in need.

We welcome donations of gently used clothing, including everyday essentials, seasonal wear, and accessories. Each item you give can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families who rely on community support.  This initiative not only helps provide access to essential apparel, but also encourages sustainability by giving clothing a second life. Together, we can reduce waste while uplifting those around us.

RHYTHM & REPS: A FITNESS EXPERIENCE

Get ready to move, sweat, and connect at Rhythm & Reps. Hosted in partnership with LaSante Health Center, this event offers a blend of wellness and fun, perfect for all fitness levels. Attendees will enjoy two engaging 40-minute sessions. Beyond the workouts, guests can take part in wellness discussions, enjoy light refreshments, and connect with others in a welcoming, energetic environment.

Spots are limited and classes are first come, first served, so be sure to RSVP in advance to secure your place.  Come for the fitness, stay for the vibes. Rhythm & Reps is where movement meets community.
 

STAY ACTIVE THIS SPRING & SUMMER SENIOR FITNESS PROGRAM

Sesame Flyers International is thrilled to invite our senior community to a Free Senior Fitness Class this spring and summer! Running from April 14 through July 2, these sessions are designed to boost health, wellness, and connection in a fun, supportive environment.

Classes will be held weekdays at Amersfort Park and Saturdays at Paerdegat Park in Brooklyn. It’s the perfect opportunity to stay active, improve fitness, and meet fellow participants who share your commitment to healthy living.  Don’t miss out, join us this season and make wellness a priority!
 

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Our team was proud to table at the District 28 Vital Voice Community Meeting.

We had the opportunity to connect with local residents, share valuable resources, and highlight meaningful ways to get involved in community initiatives. Throughout the event, we engaged in thoughtful conversations, listened to the voices of community members, and exchanged ideas that help strengthen relationships and build a more informed, connected neighborhood.

It was a wonderful experience to collaborate with others who are equally passionate about making a positive impact. We’re grateful for the chance to be part of such an important gathering that amplifies community voices and supports ongoing dialogue and growth.
