With Labor Day Weekend just around the corner we are excited to share that over 300 kids have registered for costume within the first few days of our launch! Our Mas camp is flushed with feathers and the sweet sound of soca, drawing families from near and far to be a part of the Carnival Renaissance we all know and love. But it’s not just for the kids adults can join in the fun too! As we have equally phenomenal Labor Day costumes for them as well. Carnival 2024 will be one for the Sesame books, we are here to awaken the spirit of Carnival and bacchanal like we have never before.

Our summer
camp was the place to be for fun and academic enrichment this summer,
the perfect space where fun meets the sun. Opportunity no matter the age
is a major part of who we are and what we stand for. As we enter another
year of our Summer Youth Employment Program, one of our largest yet, we
are planting seeds in our young people, giving them the opportunity to
lead, grow, and give back to our society. Catering not only to younger
children but also to older aspiring youth is what we take pride in. The
best way to lead and give back is by example, and that is at the core of
what we do as Sesame in the Community. Through partnerships and long
standing relationships, we continue to connect with and contribute to
our flourishing community. Every great season ends in celebration, and
we are anticipating a historic moment at this year's Labor Day for both
adults and kids. Embracing renewal, we enter this season as a blank
canvas, ready to embody the new era of the Carnival Renaissance. |

This year's Caribbean Essence Awards Showcase was nothing short of
cultural excellence uniting the best of what our Caribbean community has
to offer. The Sesame Flyers family proudly marked our 41st year,
continuing to serve as a vessel for Caribbean heritage. Recognizing many
well-deserving members of our community who paved the way for our future
as a people. As we celebrate these trailblazers, we also award our youth
who will carry their torch forward. Apart from the awards, the showcase
element was truly unforgettable. From the captivating performances by
the Clarkson Compass Dance Group to the lyrical Calypso music, the event
was an incredibly refreshing experience that gave us all a little taste
of home. |

Our Summer Camp was in full swing this year, and it shaped up to be a
fantastic season. This year, our camp was packed with an array of fun
activities and exciting field trips making this summer unforgettable.
From arts and crafts that spark creativity to sports and games that keep
them active, there was something for everyone. We were committed to and
successfully created a safe and engaging environment where these kids
were able to learn, grow, and most importantly, have FUN!! |

Summer Youth
Employment Program (SYEP) offers young people valuable work experiences,
helping them develop professional skills and explore different career
opportunities. These participants dive into various roles across
multiple industries, receiving hands-on training and mentorship. The
SYEP for us is more than just summer employment; it is a crucial step in
building a solid foundation for future careers. These experiences are
not only shaping their professional skills but also fostering personal
growth and confidence. We are honored to support the growth of these
young individuals and look forward to celebrating their accomplishments
in the future. |

Sesame offers a number of opportunities for children and families alike.
As part of Sesame Flyers, we are dedicated to creating a space that
brings people together and enriches lives. We have been committed to
supporting and engaging our community through various programs and
activities throughout summer and bringing awareness to our work through
community outreach. Each outing serves as an opportunity to, entertain
and educate, ensuring that everyone leaves with cherished memories and a
strengthened bond with the community.

As
summer slowly but surely hands the baton to fall, Sesame Flyers is just
warming up for the race of the year. In this edition of the newsletter
we kick things off with a recap of our Caribbean Essence Awards and
Showcase, an event we take great pride in. We believe all hard work
should not only be recognized but most importantly, rewarded.
