Our recent Toy Drive in collaboration with Redd World Foundation surpassed our every expectation, thanks to the incredible generosity of TWU Local 100, New York’s Public Transportation Union’s donation of toys. Our collective community came together to brighten the holidays for countless children by donating money and toys. Those in attendance enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus and great gifts to put under their Christmas tree. The outpouring of toys and gifts will surely bring joy to those in our community, making the holiday season a truly magical time in our program and the community beyond.
Here are some groups we supported with our toy donation overflow:
Kintock Group Residential Treatment Center, St. Francis of Assisi-St.
Blaise Church, St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church, District 75, Heather
Hurley Foundation in partnership with Sanctuary for Families, Community
Board 17 in partnership with Council Member Farah Louis’s Tree Lighting
and Toy Giveaway, Boulevard Family Shelter, A Domestic Violence Shelter,
Meyer Levin Middle School in partnership with the 67th Precinct. . |

The holiday season serves as a touching reminder of the warmth that continues to define and impact both our community and lives. It is in this spirit I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your dedication, passion and hard work. As we gather with loved ones to cherish and embrace the many joyous moments this festive season brings, let us also be ever mindful of those facing challenges and hardships each day. Our mission at Sesame Flyers is rooted in compassion and a commitment to make a positive impact in the lives of others. We believe that together, we have the power to spread kindness and make a difference in our community and world. In this year-end issue of our newsletter highlights the holiday season and showcases some of the incredible work being done in our community. Thanks to all of our donors, volunteers, staff and members of our community for your never-ending support this year.
May this holiday season be filled with laughter, love, and moments of
reflection. We wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and
a New Year filled with prosperity, good health and fulfillment. |

The Annual Thanksgiving Potluck at Winthrop Beacon is a heart-warming
tradition that each year brings students, their families, and friends
together for a day of gratitude and togetherness. This year, the joyous
occasion was a perfect blend of diverse cultural backgrounds where
people shared delicious dishes that represented their unique culinary
flavors while creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that celebrated
the spirit of Thanksgiving. Special thank you to Assemblymember Monique
Chandler-Waterman for donating turkeys this year. The laughter, love and
shared stories made this event a cherished moment of unity and
appreciation. |

For more than 30 years, Brenda Hutchinson's dedication to Sesame Flyers has touched every facet of our organization. From her role as a meticulous treasurer, to the task of overseeing membership, Brenda has been a cornerstone of support. Ms Hutchinson is not just a volunteer; but a true community ambassador known for her selflessness and compassion. Today, we express our deepest gratitude for her invaluable contributions. With trademark humility, she deflected any attention in her own way. “It’s just amazing how a little, old black woman can make a difference in the community,” said Brenda.
We at Sesame appreciate Brenda Hutchinson’s countless hours of service,
her ability to unite people, and the lasting impact she has had on our
community and organization. While words may fall short, we celebrate her
incredible journey with Sesame Flyers and honor her role as a volunteer
and community ambassador and eagerly look forward to continued
inspiration from her dedication. |
