We are also preparing for our grand
40th Anniversary in 2023. We have truly come a long way - together, and
we intend on celebrating in a big way. We have keenly learned in these
last two years to make the most of each moment because tomorrow is not
promised. I personally would like to thank each and every person who has
made a financial contribution to Sesame in these last two years. Your
support has truly made the difference in our capacity to serve this
community. |

Research shows that when parents are involved, children do better and achieve more. This is a proven fact, I can speak to it. As a parent of an 8th grader getting involved with the Parent Council made a difference for my son and was the beginning of my journey. When my son started attending the after school program with Sesame Flyers I fell in love with the program. Without anyone asking I took it upon myself to be present and vocal at his program, by offering my services without any incentives due to the program being free, I felt like I needed to give back. I started doing outreach and creating fundraisers and before you knew it I was the president of the Parent Council.
Becoming a member on the Parent
Council will provide an opportunity to participate in the growth and
development while fostering stronger ties to your children's experience
at Sesame flyers after school program. We have two Beacons and one
Compass program and we are looking for people to fill the roles of
President, Vice president, Secretary and Treasurer. If you think you
would like to be a part of leadership, please join us on Thursday

I was around 6 years old when I started to dance, ever since then my experience and love for dance has grown more and more. I love dance and I love to see and learn the stunts that other people do. Once I joined Sesame Flyers Junior Dance Company, everything changed. I've been exposed to the media and had the opportunity to be on national television show doing what I love. I have had fun and exciting experience with Sesame, such as performing at the 2021 Breast Cancer Walker and at Sesame’s Holiday Toy Giveaway. Dance really motivates me especially when I’m stressing out about school. Dancing with my friends, making jokes and also showing my moves in performances and giving my best to entertain people is what makes me happy. I want to learn more and grow with my friends that I trust and have been always by my side for 6 to 9 years, basically my whole childhood. I am so happy to be a part of Sesame Flyers. I can't wait to see what 2022 brings.

I’m someone who is very responsive to my environment. Working with Gen Z’s voices has continuously provided me with good things, amazing opportunities, comfort, and expansion. Meeting with friends to come together and share our passion for change, and journalism has provided me an outlet to continue my social justice path, along with my passion for writing. From our weekly meeting to long hours of editing, I honestly have no complaints at all. I’m so glad to be a part of an amazing team, full of students who have drive, and are passionate about change. Happy
New Year! I hope 2022 is off to a great start. Here at Sesame, we are
excited to share the progress and impact we continue to make in the
lives of children, giving voice and expression to their dreams, hopes
and desires. Our young people are beginning to exhibit more confidence
and self-esteem after transitioning from remote to in person
programming, it’s very inspiring. In this edition of the newsletter
please be sure to take a look at our upcoming events. I look forward to
a year of seeing you safely, and remaining in good health.
