April marked a significant milestone for Sesame Flyers, marking its 42nd year as a cultural institution. As we reflect on our rich history, we are filled with pride and gratitude for the decades of service, community empowerment, and cultural preservation we've championed. Sesame Flyers emerged from the vision of a group of dedicated individuals who sought to create a safe environment for children and families while celebrating the culture of the Caribbean. Over the years, Sesame Flyers International has become a cornerstone of Brooklyn, providing youth development programs, cultural enrichment, and support to individuals and families. April is not just a time to look back, it's an opportunity to reaffirm our mission: to "Love a Kid Today and Every Day." Our motto fuels our dedication to provide safe spaces, academic enrichment, and preservation of the Caribbean heritage here in New York City for generations to come.
We extend our
deepest thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, partners, and the
community who have supported us throughout our journey. Your belief in
our mission has been instrumental in our success, and we look forward to
many more years of growth, unity, and service together. |

We invite you to join us for our most anticipated event of the year, the
annual Caribbean Essence Awards & Showcase! This year, we proudly
embrace the theme of Black Renaissance, a tribute to the remarkable
achievements, resilience, and contributions of individuals within the
Caribbean diaspora. The night will be alive with the sounds and sights of the Caribbean. Get ready for music that makes you want to move, an exhibition of artwork and cultural dances from our programs. We're bringing it all to you with a touch of black and gold elegance. We hope to see you there for a memorable evening of Black Renaissance, Caribbean culture, and community spirit. |

As we anticipate our Caribbean
Essence Awards & Showcase in June, celebrating "Black Renaissance", we
take a moment to reflect on a glimpse of what you can expect on this
special evening: The Bildersee Black History Showcase. This showcase
proved to be a resounding success. From the opening performances to the
closing remarks, the event was a powerful testament to the richness and
depth of Black history and culture. Presented with an array of
performances, including moving spoken-word pieces, dance performances,
and songs, the showcase provided an opportunity for education and
enlightenment, but also created a strong sense of unity and pride for
all in attendance. |

The energy in
the room was both calming and uplifting as students embraced yoga with
open minds and enthusiasm. Guided through mindful movements and
breathing exercises, they found balance, focus, and relaxation. By the
end of the session, many participants left feeling refreshed,
rejuvenated, and well on their way to becoming yoga pros. This mindful
practice is particularly helpful for easing anxiety and promoting mental
well-being, especially as our participants anticipate the upcoming
annual state exams, which often create a sense of unease, something a
lot our youth struggle with. |

Get R.I.C.H. 's Canvas & Chill was a huge success! Teens and young
creatives came together for a night of art, music, and good vibes,
reinforcing our mission to provide spaces for self-expression and
connection. Events like these remind us why Get R.I.C.H. exists, to
inspire, uplift, and bring the next generation together. We're providing
fun activities dedicated to nurturing their creativity, fostering vital
social connections, and equipping them with essential life skills that
will pave the way for a successful future. |

This
spring, we are especially proud to embrace and celebrate what we are
calling a modern-day Black Renaissance, a time to honor our history,
uplift our culture, and celebrate the brilliance within our community.
Our youth programs, special events, and upcoming Caribbean Essence
Awards and Showcase reflect this powerful spirit of Black excellence,
creativity, and pride.
