October
marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to
honoring the strength of those battling breast cancer, celebrating the
resilience of survivors, and remembering the lives lost to the disease.
It is a powerful reminder of the importance of early detection,
education, and continued research in the fight against breast cancer. By
wearing pink, sharing knowledge, and standing in solidarity, we help
raise awareness, offer hope, and support the journey toward a cure.
Together, we can make a difference—one step, one voice, and one life at
a time. |

There were the beautiful pieces performed at Calypso on D Avenue, the joy of Kiddies Carnival, the contagious vibes at the West Indian Parade, the all star energy at Pan in Times Square, along with so much more including our Summer Rising and Summer Boost programs, our SYEP participants and worksites as well as our Summer Safety program. All of this came together to create a summer session for the books. Summer at Sesame became a celebration of togetherness and culture.
With the
seasons shifting, let us carry that same spirit forward into everything
we have planned ahead. Here’s to the memories we’ve made and the ones
still to come.. |

The world famous Times Square came alive with the transformational
sounds of Steel Pan in honor of World Steel Pan Day 2025. Each set
delivered performances that transported the crowd straight to the heart
of their homelands. Guests of all ages came out to represent and
showcase their pride and love of the culture. Flooded with flags and
sweet rhythms, it was truly a day to remember. We thank everyone who
came out to celebrate the music and the culture. You brought the vibes,
the energy, and the essence of what it means to be Caribbean.

As the sun set each Friday in July
and August, the Cultural Center became the spot to find some of the best
Calypso in town. Friends, families, and neighbors gathered to honor our
roots and celebrate the true spirit of Carnival season. Calypso on the
Avenue became the perfect way to wind down the week and gear up for the
weekend. Guests were treated with unforgettable moments that carried us
through the summer. Each Friday brought its own vibe and every night was
a reminder that it wouldn’t have been the same without you. |

Our youngest masqueraders stole the spotlight, dancing through the streets in a sea of costumes. Their energy lit up the day, bringing smiles to their families and everyone who watched them pass by.
From the
tiniest costumes of our youngest masquerader to fully choreographed
performances by the teens, these moments reminded us that our culture’s
future begins with its youth. It was a powerful and beautiful reminder
that the next generation is not just watching, they’re already carrying
our traditions forward.

In our second year of Carnival Renaissance, our adult masqueraders truly brought the pageantry to life with unmatched spirit and grace. Dressed in costumes that celebrated both tradition and elegance, they moved through the parkway like living works of art.
The commanding dances along the route were a masterclass in cultural
expression, bold and unapologetically ours. Together, we continue to
breathe life into this rebirth of identity, reclaiming our space and
celebrating who we are, and who we are still becoming. |

This summer, Bildersee Beacon youth had a wholesome season of fun, adventure, and memories! They embarked on a series of excursions such as sights of the Bronx Zoo and friendly competition at Dave & Buster’s, racing at RPM Raceway and thrills at Coney Island. We also got creative and connected with activities like the Milk & Cookies etiquette workshop, the splash-filled Water Olympics at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and sweet treats from the ice cream & taco truck.
It was a summer full of joy and discovery at Bildersee Beacon! |

This summer, Clarkson Compass youth had an amazing time! The kids spent
sunny days at the water park, showed off their skills roller skating,
and had fun at Dave & Buster’s. They knocked down pins at the bowling
alley, got into the 90’s spirit on themed day, and bounced around at the
trampoline park. It was a summer full of laughter, friends, and great
memories! |

This summer, Winthrop Beacon had a series of engaging themed days that
kept the youth busy all season long! 90’s Day brought out the throwback
style and nostalgic vibes, while Neon Day lit up the space with bold
colors and bright smiles. On Tie-Dye Day, creativity flowed as the kids
designed their own pieces. We got playful with Dress Like a Nerd Day and
Dress to Impress Day then wrapped things up on a high note with Making
Waves, a fun-filled day of swimming that helped everyone cool off and
end off the summer right. It was a summer full of fun, self-expression,
and lasting memories. |

The Sesame Flyers International ran a successful 7-week SYEP program,
providing valuable work experiences for both younger and older youth.
Participants joined virtual workshops or were placed in a variety of
